"I have been wearing eyeglasses and contacts since I was in third grade. For a long time, I have not been able to see the clock when I wake up in the morning or find the soap if I drop it in the shower. So, the thought of becoming independent of my eyeglasses and contacts was truly a dream! Although my vision was bad, I hesitated when it came to correcting my vision with LASIK. After all, I thought that some vision was better than no vision and what if something went wrong. Also, I was not feeling very brave and fearful that the procedure would be painful and uncomfortable.
I have now had LASIK and I am so thrilled that I worked up the courage to do it. I wake up in the morning and I have perfect vision! I don't have to worry about packing my glasses and contact supplies when I go on vacation. And, it was such an easy procedure. I loved Dr. Lebowitz and his whole approach. He gave me a thorough evaluation prior to deciding whether I was an appropriate candidate and I could tell that he would have turned me down if he had had any questions. After all, he does not deem himself an appropriate candidate!
I am so pleased with the results of LASIK and would do it again in a heartbeat. Dr. Lebowitz made it a great experience and I would recommend him to anyone who is ready to be free of their glasses or contacts!"

I had LASIK on June 30th, 2003. Now it is February 2005 and I don’t wear eyeglasses or contact lenses I wore before I had LASIK surgery. My biggest motivation to get the surgery was to wear sunglasses without a prescription. There are so many different sunglasses that a prescription wasn’t possible for the ones I wanted. I also wanted to wake up in the morning, open my eyes and see the numbers on my alarm clock clearly; and anything else I wanted to look at. It all became natural again; like it was once before, when I didn’t need glasses as a little kid.
Dr. Lebowitz performed LASIK surgery on me. I recall the anxiety I felt, especially 30 minutes before surgery. When it was time to do it, I was lying down and we began. The procedure was not what I expected. In about 25 minutes both of my eyes were done. It wasn’t anything as bad as I thought it would be. There was no pain at all. Most of the time I was instructed to look straight up into a blue ring with a red/orange dot flashing inside of it. Dr. Lebowitz made it a lot easier too. He basically guided me by telling me what he will do next as he proceeded. He told me what I will feel beforehand, and the only thing I felt were different drops he put in my eyes. He also told me beforehand what I will see with each step of the way. I was more relaxed that way through it all. I felt confident through his confidence.
When the surgery finished, Dr. Lebowitz put clear patches over each eye to protect my eyes from infection. I was told to keep them on for the night and see the doctor first thing in the morning. When he took the patches off, I was ready to put on my sunglasses.
My right eye’s visual acuity right now is 20/25. My left is 20/15. Together I see great at any time of the day or night. I have no regrets, and I am glad I went through with LASIK. Dr. Lebowitz did a great job for me.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Lebowitz for all he has done for me. I came to Dr. Lebowitz in February 2005 a frightened and uninformed patient inquiring about LASIK Surgery. Although the hour was late, Dr. Lebowitz patiently took the time to explain (in language I could understand) the procedure and its possible side effects. Six years ago I witnessed my sister's LASIK procedure and even after having seen with my own eyes what I would endure, I still postponed having the procedure myself. It wasn't until I met with Dr. Lebowitz and his associate Dr. Podhorzer that my fears were put to rest. Dr. Lebowitz exemplified patience and professionalism like none other I have experienced.
Once I made the decision to go ahead with LASIK surgery, scheduling the procedure was made convenient and quick by Lindsay, director of your Brooklyn office. The procedure itself was made less frightening by Dr. Lebowitz who continually explained what was to happen next and asked if I was OK. The post-operative care was just as important to Dr. Lebowitz as was the procedure itself. Dr. Lebowitz made sure I was aware that he personally was available to me and my needs, questions, or concerns at any time, day or night. It’s this type of bedside manner that truly makes Dr. Lebowitz stand apart from the rest.
At my first post-operative appointment, which was the day following my procedure, my vision was the same as if I were wearing my contacts. These results were truly amazing to me!! With each post-operative visit my eyes seem to be improving beyond my wildest expectations!! Thank you again Dr. Lebowitz for making a seeming terrifying experience successful and pleasant.

My name is Gregg. I am 45 years old and have been wearing glasses since I was in 3rd grade. Making the decision of having LASIK surgery was not an easy task. I am in the video production field and my eyes are my life. I have been a patient of Dr. Mogil for about 20 years and this office has always had my trust in my eyes. There were many discussions with Dr. Mogil about having this surgery. I always wanted it, but I was nervous about something going wrong. I finally made the decision to have a consultation with Dr. Lebowitz, the LASIK Specialist in the office. My consultation with Dr. Lebowitz was very impressive. He was patient, and very informative about this procedure. He explained every aspect of the surgery, post surgery and what I was to expect in the vision correction.
My scheduled surgery was in February of 2004 and I was nervous, but excited. Finally, I was to have a pair of new eyes. The Hospital that Dr. Lebowitz performed the surgery was excellent. They had the latest equipment and very good staff. Dr. Lebowitz entered the room where I was waiting and his manners were very comforting. He sat me back and proceeded to start the surgery. I found that Dr. Lebowitz was very careful on all his decisions. He was so careful that he found out before starting the LASIK surgery that my eyes had floating corneas. He sat me up and explained what he saw. He told me that he did not feel comfortable doing the surgery because of the floating corneas. I was extremely disappointed and very upset. He told me to reschedule appointment in his office to explain in detail why he made that decision.
I was so upset that I made the appointment the next day to come in to talk to Dr. Lebowitz. He told me that I had another option besides LASIK Surgery. I went from being unhappy to happy in that short instance. He told me that I had option of having the surgery done the PRK method. He told me that the recovery was a lot longer and that he was only able to do one eye one week and the other eye the next. I was ready to finally have Laser Correction Surgery. The surgery went very well and Dr. Lebowitz was very comforting during the surgery and post surgery. I am typing this letter without glasses and to this day, I still try to push up my glasses on my nose, and the glasses are not there. I am glad that I made the decision of getting this surgery.
Thank you Dr. Lebowitz for letting me share in my experience in this fascinating procedure. Please use my name for anyone that needs security in making the great decision in their lives.
