juvederm Fillers, Botox Offerings,KLM Eye MDs

As we get older, we are likely to start seeing more fine lines and wrinkles in our faces as well as some loss of volume in our cheeks, lips, and other parts of our face. Our nasolabial folds and marionette lines can become deeper.  Vertical lines between our brows can make us look tired or even angry.

With today’s modern cosmetic treatments, you can improve these sings of aging for a significant period of time and retain smoother, supple skin that can keep you looking as younger. Many adults are choosing injectable cosmetic fillers instead of getting facelifts, which require surgery, sutures, and recovery time. Two of the most popular treatments, which are provided by KLM Eye MDs in the Brooklyn neighborhood of New York City, are Juvederm fillers and Botox.

What is Juvederm?

Juvederm is a patented substance that contains hyaluronic acid. Your body actually produces hyaluronic acid naturally. It’s what has kept your skin smooth and soft in your youth.

This special acid helps your skin retain moisture. When your skin is hydrated, it’s plump and has great elasticity. If you pinch yourself, the skin jumps right back into place. But as you age, the amount of hyaluronic acid in your skin diminishes, resulting in fine lines, wrinkles, and less elasticity, which leads to skin that sags and droops.

Juvederm also stimulates your skin to produce more collagen, the important protein in your skin that keeps it plump. Like hyaluronic acid, the amount of collagen your skin has declines with aging. Juvederm can revive your skin so it looks more radiant and youthful.

What happens during a Juvederm treatment?

Filler injections are done in the office. There are different fillers in the Juvederm family and the doctor will choose the optimal filler for your area of need. The filler comes in the form filler in those areas. Your doctor will gently massage the areas to ensure even distribution of the filler.

What areas of my skin can Juvederm treat?

The Juvederm product line has several fillers that can treat specific areas of your face.

Cheeks

Juvéderm Voluma™ XC injectable gel adds fullness to your cheeks if they’ve begun to sag or appear hollow.

Smile lines

You use muscles around your mouth all the time while smiling and talking. Eventually, the gentle indentations may become facial folds or deep grooves. Juvéderm Vollure™ XC , Juvéderm XC, Juvederm Ultra injectable gels smooth out wrinkles and smile lines from your nose to the outside of your mouth.

Lips

Aging can also affect your lips. Your lips may tend to flatten out into a thinner line as you age. Juvéderm Ultra XC and Juvéderm Volbella™ XC injectable gels can plump up your lips so they’re full once again. Juvéderm Volbella XC can also improve the lines around the corners of your mouth.

How long do Juvederm fillers last?

It depends on the particular filler you receive. Juvéderm Voluma XC can last up to two years or more. Others can last anywhere from 6-12 months.

What is Botox?

Botox is not a filler. It’s an injectable substance that has a very small concentration of botulinum toxin type A in it.  Botox weakens facial muscles to smooth out wrinkles and to prevent wrinkle formation.

Is Botox safe?

Botox is backed by almost two decades of clinical studies on its effectiveness and safety. It’s been approved for use in more than 95 countries.  A study published by the National Institutes of Health concludes that Botox “has an excellent track record for patient satisfaction.”

Botox will be administered by Dr.Geller, who has been trained in its use.  It’s used to treat certain medical disorders, such as blepharospasm and hemifacial spasm, but it can also be used for cosmetic purposes. Dr.Geller at KLM Eye MD's has been specially trained to inject botox both for functional and cosmetic purposes.

What areas of the face does Botox treat?

Botox smooths out the lines extending from the outside edges of your eyes, commonly known as crow’s feet. In addition, it eliminates or reduces the appearance of frown lines, the vertical lines between your eyebrows. It can also soften horizontal lines in your forehead. These are some of the most commonly treated areas.

How does Botox work?

Botox blocks nerve endings that tell your muscles to move. When injected very precisely into certain muscles of your face, it will reduce fine lines and wrinkles and prevent new ones from forming. You’ll begin to notice the difference in your face within 48 hours and full action takes about 7 days to achieve. Results last 3-4 months.
