About Dr. Lyu

Ted Lyu, MD is a fellowship-trained and board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery, medical and surgical glaucoma treatment, and anterior segment surgery.

Dr. Lyu graduated from Cornell University and then Chicago Medical School where he earned both the Gold Humanism Honor Society and Alpha Omega Alpha honors. In medical school, he served as Class President for three years. He served as Chief Resident at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and then as Chief Glaucoma Fellow at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.

Dr. Lyu is an Assistant Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai where he teaches cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, and laser surgery to resident physicians. He is a repeat recipient of the annual Mount Sinai Excellence in Teaching Award.

Dr. Lyu has interests in comprehensive eye care, complex anterior segment pathology, cataract surgery utilizing multifocal and toric intraocular lenses, Femtosecond Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery (FLACS), and traditional and microincisional glaucoma surgery (MIGS).

Dr. Lyu is published in peer-reviewed journals and has presented his research at major academic conferences. He is an active fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American and New York Glaucoma Societies.
